Stake
Ontario.
Can Ontario players legally use Stake.com? The operator’s own jurisdiction clause gives a direct answer.
Stake’s terms explicitly name Ontario as a Prohibited Jurisdiction. The brand is also absent from Ontario’s regulated-site directory.

The terms, the provincial directory and the anti-circumvention clause all point in the same direction.
Is Stake legal and licensed in Ontario?
Stake.com does not offer an Ontario-regulated product, and its own rules prohibit Ontario use.
The iGaming Ontario directory is the public record of gaming sites offered by locally regulated operators. Stake does not appear in that directory. Its terms instead identify the operator as Medium Rare N.V., licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority.
A Curaçao licence does not equal AGCO registration or an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. More importantly, Stake’s jurisdiction clause specifically lists Ontario among the places whose residents and visitors cannot use the real-money service.
Ontario is named in Stake’s Prohibited Jurisdictions. A page loading or an old account existing does not change that contract term.
Stake login and existing accounts in Ontario
Technical access is not permission to deposit, wager or use location-masking tools.
Stake’s terms extend the restriction to both Ontario residents and anyone physically located in the province. They also say that an attempt to manipulate location information, including through a VPN or proxy, breaches the agreement.
If you already hold a Stake account and move or travel to Ontario, stop using it for real-money play. For a balance or access question, contact the operator through its published support route. Do not create a second account, enter a false address or ask another person to access the account.
Crypto, fiat, KYC and withdrawals
Stake’s global cashier rules explain the platform, but they do not create an Ontario exception.
Network details matter
Asset, network, address and minimum must match. Transfers to the wrong network may not be recoverable.
Identity and location
Stake may request KYC and restrict payments or withdrawals until identity and location are established.
Deposit wagering rule
Stake’s terms require 100% of a fiat or crypto deposit to be wagered before a withdrawal request.
The terms also require the deposit and withdrawal methods to belong to the account holder. Additional due diligence, source-of-funds information or an account investigation can delay a withdrawal. None of these conditions should be tested from a prohibited jurisdiction.
Casino, sportsbook and Stake Ontario bonuses
A global product catalogue is not an Ontario offer.
Stake is known for casino games, Originals, live casino, sports betting and crypto balances. Those features may explain why people search for Stake Ontario, but product popularity does not override regional rules.
There is no valid basis for advertising a “Stake Ontario bonus” when Stake.com prohibits Ontario use. Stake’s general promotion terms also make bonuses discretionary and subject to eligibility, expiry, account limits and anti-abuse rules. Do not follow a bonus link that claims to unlock Stake.com for Ontario.
How to find a legal Ontario alternative
Use the official market directory instead of looking for a workaround.
- 01Search the iGaming Ontario directory.
Match the exact site domain and confirm that the product category includes casino or sports betting.
- 02Compare the cashier.
Check Interac or card availability, minimums, fees, KYC and the withdrawal route.
- 03Read the offer terms.
Inspect wagering, eligible games, maximum bets, expiry and withdrawal restrictions.
- 04Set limits before playing.
Gambling is entertainment, not income. Use deposit and time controls before money is at risk.
Do not chase the loss.

01Is Stake legal in Ontario?+
Stake.com is not an Ontario-regulated casino or sportsbook. It does not appear in the iGaming Ontario directory, and its own terms explicitly include Ontario among the Prohibited Jurisdictions whose residents and visitors may not use the real-money service.
02Is Stake available in Ontario, Canada?+
No. Stake.com’s published terms prohibit use by people who live in Ontario or are physically located there. This is more direct than a simple geoblock: Ontario is named in the operator’s jurisdiction clause.
03Is Stake licensed by the AGCO?+
We found no Stake entry in the current iGaming Ontario regulated-site directory. Stake.com’s terms identify Medium Rare N.V. and a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence, which is not an AGCO registration or an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.
04Can I create a Stake account from Ontario?+
You should not create or use a Stake.com real-money account while living in or visiting Ontario. The operator’s terms prohibit both residents and people physically located in the province. A registration screen loading does not override those terms.
05Can I log in to Stake from Ontario?+
Do not treat a working login page as permission to play. If you already have an account and are now in Ontario, do not deposit or place bets. Contact Stake support about legitimate account access or an existing balance without attempting to disguise your location.
06Can I use a VPN to access Stake in Ontario?+
No. Stake’s terms specifically describe VPNs, proxies and false location information used to defeat geoblocking as a breach. Location masking can also trigger verification, account restriction and withdrawal review. We provide no instructions for bypassing regional controls.
07Does Stake accept Canadian dollars or Interac?+
The methods shown by Stake can vary by account and country, but a familiar currency or Canadian payment route would not make Stake.com available in Ontario. Jurisdiction eligibility must be checked before any cashier feature.
08Does Stake require KYC?+
Yes. Stake’s terms allow it to request documents needed to establish a player’s identity and location and to restrict service, payments or withdrawals until verification is complete. It may also request profession or source-of-funds information.
09How do Stake withdrawals work?+
Stake’s terms require identity verification, ownership of the receiving account and any additional requested information. They also state that 100% of a fiat or crypto deposit must be wagered before withdrawal. These are global platform rules, not an Ontario product offer.
10Is there a Stake Ontario bonus?+
No legitimate Stake.com offer should be described as a Stake Ontario bonus while Ontario is a prohibited jurisdiction under Stake’s terms. Promotions are also subject to their own eligibility, activation, expiry and anti-abuse conditions.
11Is Stake.us the same as Stake.com in Ontario?+
No. Stake.us and Stake.com are separate products with different models and terms. The existence of another Stake-branded product does not make Stake.com available in Ontario. Always identify the exact domain and applicable rules rather than relying on the brand name alone.
12What are legal Stake alternatives in Ontario?+
Use the iGaming Ontario directory to find casino and sportsbook sites offered by regulated operators. Compare the exact domain, payment rules, verification, games, support and responsible-gambling controls before opening an account.
Where this answer comes from
